iCon, Steve Jobs

Lightning never strikes twice, but Steve Jobs has, transforming modern culture first with the Macintosh and more recently with the iPod. He has dazzled and delighted audiences with his Pixar movies. And he has bedeviled, destroyed, and demoralized hundreds of people along the way. Steve Jobs is the most interesting character of the digital age.

What a long, strange journey it has been. With the mainstream success of the iPod, Pixar's string of hits and subsequent divorce from Disney, and Steve's triumphant return to Apple, his story is better than any fiction. Ten years after the leading maverick of the computer age and the king of digital cool, crashed from the height of Apple's meteoric rise, Steve Jobs rose from ashes in a Machiavellian coup that only he could have orchestrated-and has now become more famous than ever.

If you want to buy it, go to Amazon.com, it's available form $5,35.

Sicko, Michael Moore

After Bowling for Columbine in 2002, after Fahrenheit 9/11 in 2004, here it comes Sicko, his new documentary.
Synopsis (from michaelmoore.com):
The words "health care" and "comedy" aren't usually found in the same sentence, but in Academy Award winning filmmaker Michael Moore's new movie 'SiCKO,' they go together hand in (rubber) glove.
Opening with profiles of several ordinary Americans whose lives have been disrupted, shattered, and—in some cases—ended by health care catastrophe, the film makes clear that the crisis doesn't only affect the 47 million uninsured citizens—millions of others who dutifully pay their premiums often get strangled by bureaucratic red tape as well.
Watch the trailer for now, because the movie will be in Europe only for this winter.

Album of the Week

AaRON - Artificial animals Riding On Nerverland

AaRON’s music takes us through the labyrinth of our lives, a detour in memories , bringing life through the eyes childhood, giving the light that is needed for all vision, “Don’t care what people say, I’m dreamin’ louder every day”.
AaRON is two songwriters who may have come straight out of the strange reality of a Lynch or Basquiat film: Simon Buret (singer/author/composer) and Olivier Coursier (composer/arranger).
AaRON’s story is sprinkled with incredible doubts but it also evokes luminous hidden beauties, ephemeral suns and moons.

Cheaper variants of iPhone?

Market sources are claiming that Apple has already started working on cheaper variants of their upcoming Apple iPhone mobile phone device.

American Technology Research analyst Shaw Wu has said in a note that he believes that the company is reacting to the market pressure to make such a move.

Apple launched the iPod Shuffle and iPod nano players after launching the regular iPod to meet the demand of the people who wanted a cheaper solution.

He said: “Apple needs to round out its iPhone product line at lower price points (similar to iPod) if it expects to replicate the success of its iPod with sales of 100 million units.”
(Note: Story is real, but picture is a hoax.)

iPhone with GPS

The next iPhone probably due out at Macworld or early spring of '08 will incorporate a GPS receiver chip closely matching the SiRFstarIII from SiRF Technology. Even though the StarIII’s power consumption is a bit higher than Apple would like it is considered the best chip for a mobile device of this kind, having the capability to receive signals from 20 different satellites simultaneously and a super fast First Fix Time," AppleTechNews reports.

That's a great news, and for those who will probably buy one, the european mobile network who will comercialize the iPhone are T-Mobile, Vodafone, O2, and the costumer must sign up for a two years contract.
